Drawing the Cattedrale dial

Every Cattedrale dial begins as a pencil study of Gothic tracery: pointed arches, quatrefoils and the radiating geometry of a rose window.
The challenge is depth. A window is read through light; a dial is read through layers. We separated the tracery into applied levels so the subdials sit inside it like chapels inside a nave, and kept the indices bold enough to read at a glance.
The next step is prototyping the tracery in metal and testing how the finishing catches light at different angles.
