The inspiration

The dial is drawn like a rose window: pointed arches, quatrefoils and trefoils layered over a deep ground, framed by an exposed-screw bezel that recalls the iron fixings of a cathedral door. Three subdials sit inside the tracery like chapels inside a nave.
